Operation Egg Banjo

Ok guys, just been talking with Willie about another mission for the campaign. Delta can see if he can fit it in somewhere in the campaign.

A friendly squad, all injured and without ammo are holed up somewhere randomly on the map. Usual enemy patrols all over them, but they're set not to be touched. Haven't figured out how to hide them yet, maybe spawn a hut or something.

Anyway, mission is to rescue them. Take them ammunition and heal them up. Once they are rearmed, enemies will engage them. Talking with Odin, once they're 'rescued', we'll do a "hold your ground" part to the mission.

I can make it they will always follow a squad or maybe then just jump into a HumVee (all scripted so we don't have the usual crap of them not doing as they're told), and we get them back to Olsha.

Squad Layout - like Crystal Breach, with LAV and Air Transport/Escort

Enemy Forces - reduced Russian troop patrols and focused Insurgents around lost squad

Questions:

Do we continue south into Chernagorsk, based off the airfield? Do we choose another map?

If we continue with the campaign,

- we can leave the Mortar Pits in place for friendly use. What's their max firing range?

- Setup the Docks as a Main Operating Base with defensive emplacements (Willie)

- Defend the Airfield properly with defensive emplacements (Willie)

- Modifiy Random Group scripts to support Insurgents (Odin)

- Open up Golden Retriever and re-use the random objective location code. Might need to list all the enterable house objects, and search for those in the AO to randomly pick one, where the soldiers will be holed up. (Odin)

- ...

How does that sound for a start?

Probably move it further

Probably move it further south - I'm easy how big it is, as long as it encompasses the airfield and Berezino docks.

found a place

as i haven't fully played CB yet, does the end of it require you actually secure the harbour and such? if so it might be fittable into the next mission depending on time/size.

ideally after the harbour was secured, i was thinking of a more domination side mission'esque thing. Where esscentually you talk to HQ at base, they give you your daily orders (randomly generated) from pre built objectives in the mission. So you load up the mission, get the orders and you can run several short missions as such from what we have been discussing in ties with OCRD and AEF. Each objective though will be like Goldern Retriever, in the fact that they are randomly placed in the AO. However each mission, once completed and depending on what's involved, will either assist you with assests, random generated local forces pro west etc etc which give you an advantage. Failed however and odds get turned against you.

This mission as said, depending how big your wanting to make it, could be added in as an objective.

The idea of the mission is to roughly simulate operations being carried out from an FOB to secure and understand the surrounding area, before pushing to secure another vital position.

Idea's opinions or general banter? :P

Appreciate the feedback and I

Appreciate the feedback and I do like the idea Delta, but I know Williepete and Odin have their own ideas - I'd like to hear all of them and choose what would work and what can wait for the next mission.

Just cause its not in this mission, doesn't mean it won't be in another one later on.

Personally, this afternoon I was playing around with questioning of civilians to acquire targets. As yet, all I get is 'I have seen nothing', even when an enemy patrol drives right past them. I will play with the BIS_fnc_Respect function, to see if it makes any difference.

Willie and Odin, if you're okay with it, post up what you're thinking for this mission.

Is it plausable that you need

Is it plausable that you need to set them as friendly to bluefor? They may act like wa****s because they don't like your team? :P
